See it in action

Zip, buckle, button and lace — layer by layer.

Undo one layer, find the next.

Each layer has its own fastening, so getting to the teddy bear inside means practising them all.

Front, back and inside
01Front, back and insideA zip jacket on the front, a backpack on the back and a teddy bear waiting inside.
The buckle
02The buckleA real side-release buckle, like the ones on car seats and backpacks.
Hook-and-loop
03Hook-and-loopStraps that pull apart and press back, the easiest fastening to start with.
Buttons and laces
04Buttons and lacesBig buttons on the vest and laced edges on every page.
Two dressing busy boards with their layered outfits

The fastenings on their own clothes

Children learn to dress themselves on the clothes they wear every day — but it is easier when the zip is in front of them, not under their chin. This board lets them practise sitting down, at their own pace, until they can do it themselves.

What their hands are learning

Getting dressed, one fastening at a time.

01
Zip and buckle
The two fastenings children meet on every coat and car seat.
02
Buttons and hook-and-loop
Pinch, push and pull — small movements that build finger strength.
Dressing board, about 30 by 20 cm
03
Lacing
Threading the shoelace practises hand-eye coordination.
04
Independence
The more they practise here, the more they can do on their own clothes.

Two styles, same fastenings

Very cute, well made. it would be better if the laces later was the last one, as you have to remove the whole lace to open up. the front page of ours has one side upside down .

I bought it at a good price. My 22-month-old son isn't interested yet, but I hope he will be someday...

It's not great, it's stiff.

The base is thin plywood, the pages are folded together, didn't open it - it's a gift for my grandson, looks decent.

The child's body is made of wood, and the rest is thick cardboard. The shipping was fast.

The product is very nicely made with great attention to detail. It's nice that, for example, the buttons are attached with elastic bands. You need to be careful with small parts because the golden shells from the shoelace flew off quickly. This is important for me because I bought the booklet for my 5-year-old and I still have a little over a year-old.

Before you order

The things parents ask us most about this one.

What age is it for?

Toddlers and preschoolers who are starting to dress themselves. The shoelace and straps mean play should be with a grown-up nearby.

What is the difference between the two styles?

Only the outfits printed on the layers. Everyday outfits has jackets, a vest and a cardigan; Uniforms has work outfits such as a chef’s jacket and a police uniform.

How big is it?

About 11.8 × 7.9 in (30 × 20 cm).

Does it need batteries?

No. It is wood and fabric — nothing to charge.

Will it arrive before Christmas?

Order by December 14 and it should. Christmas falls on Friday, December 25 this year. Orders placed after December 14 may still make it, but we cannot promise it.

How much is shipping?

Free. Standard US shipping is included on every order, with no minimum. Delivery times are set out in our shipping policy.
